Provide a brief summary of the two articles you reviewed from outside resources on the national healthcare issue/stressor. Explain how the healthcare issue/stressor is being addressed in other organizations.
Summarize the strategies used to address the organizational impact of national healthcare issues/stressors presented in the scholarly resources you selected. Explain how they may impact your organization both positively and negatively. Be specific and provide examples.

 
MY SELECTED HEALTHCARE ISSUE
Review of Current Healthcare Issues
            The health care system faces different issues that affect the quality of health care services delivered to the patients (Marc et al., 2018). One health care stressor that affects the quality of health care delivery is the shortage of health care practitioners. Shortage of health care practitioners leads to medical errors which result in high morbidity and mortality rates (Marc et al., 2018). The shortage of health care practitioners affects has an impact on my work setting. The stressor lowers the quality of health care delivered by the health care facility where I work. The available health care practitioners are overworked, experience burnouts, and report high levels of job dissatisfaction (Virginia, 2018). Patients admitted at the health care facility also report high levels of dissatisfaction with services they receive from the health care practitioners. Burnouts and job dissatisfaction lead to high job turnover which in turn leads to high operational costs (Virginia, 2018). The health care facility is frequently hiring and training new staff to replace those who leave the facility to work elsewhere. Lack of a sufficient number of health care practitioners lowers efficiency at the health care facility. The health care facility reports poor response to an emergency resulting in accidents and increased hospital-acquired infections (Virginia, 2018).
            The health care facility is struggling to respond to the shortage of health care practitioners. One way that the health care facility responds to the stressor is by providing the staff with packaged lunch and fruits during shifts when the number of patients that needed to be attended to is high. However, most of the staff members have reported that they feel uncomfortable having their meals in the presence of their patients. The second way that the health care facility has responded to the health issue is by planning to recruit 10 new nurses. The facility has advertised positions for new nurses and hopes to retain them by offering commissions and some financial benefits for working overtime (Marshall & Broome, 2017).
